Job SummaryDesign external beam, brachytherapy treatment plans and adaptive planned cases. Plan and calculate distribution of doses and volumetric information for radiation oncology treatments involving moving and stationary fields using multi-dimensional computer techniques including 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT and SRS. Provide dosimetry support to the simulator and treatment units as needed.
Responsibilities*- Design, plan and calculate distribution of doses and volumetric information for radiation oncology treatments involving moving and stationary external beam fields using multi-dimensional computer techniques including 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT and SRS.
- Advanced Treatment Planning & Dosimetry: Execute treatment planning for brachytherapy procedures, specifically CT/MRI-based HDR GYN and ultrasound-based HDR prostate implants. Responsibilities also include creating LDR eye plaque plans and performing treatment planning for Y-90 TheraSphere treatments.
- Clinical Operations & Quality Assurance: Independently conduct HDR daily Quality Assurance (QA) and actively assist medical physicists during patient simulations, providing occasional, as-needed support for clinical research.
- Radioactive Source Management: Oversee the logistical workflow for LDR radioactive materials, including taking direct responsibility for ordering, coordinating deliveries, and arranging secure source transfers for the clinical program.
- Billing out appropriate charges for dosimetry planning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the chief dosimetrist.
- Prepare electronic medical record for daily treatment, including but not limited to daily set-up instructions, IGRT guidance documents, and scheduling documents.
- Importing and exporting patient planning data to and from outside facilities to support planning process.
- Identify and contour normal and dose-limiting structures from multiple datasets used in treatment planning.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of patient treatment records to verify proper documentation of treatment, doses and overall patient plan quality.
- Assist in the acquisition of diagnostic information, such as CT, PET and MRI, to be used interactively in the development of patient treatment plans. Register image datasets and be capable of determining quality image registrations.
- Clinically instruct and train radiation therapy technology students and physician and physics residents in treatment planning process. We are also a clinical site for dosimetry student training and accept 2 students each year.
- Participate in quality improvement processes.
- Billing out appropriate charges for dosimetry planning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the chief dosimetrist.
Required Qualifications*Education: Masters of Medical Dosimetry from JCERT accredited program or MDCB certified with associates degree and on the job training.
Certification: MDCB is preferred or minimum of MDCB board eligible.
Licensure: As required by state
Work Experience:- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment are required.
- CMD certified preferred
- Ability to perform independent treatment planning is necessary.
- Two years of experience as a dosimetrist and/or dosimetrist assistant are preferred
- Treatment planning experience using Varian Eclipse planning system along with ARIA record and verify is desirable
