  • Two years of clinical experience in a similar department preferred.
  • BS degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients.
  • Verify prescribed treatment doses and fields before each treatment session.
  • Ensure accurate patient positioning using protective devices.
  • Maintain constant visual and intercom contact with patients during treatment.
  • Observe patients for unusual reactions and report abnormalities to the oncologist.
  • Place and immobilize patients for precise treatment delivery.

Radiation Therapist

Job Summary and Qualifications

Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients.

Verify prescribed treatment dose before treatment, verify fields to be treated and angles to be used.

Assure placement of protective devices in order to shield otherwise healthy exposed tissue of patients

Place and immobilize patient to ensure accurate treatment. Maintain constant visual and intercom contact with the patient during treatment to assure patient remains in the proper position

Observe patient for unusual reaction and report any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy technology Certification in Radiation Therapy

Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

Preferred: BS degree in related field.

LICENSURE:

Required: ARRT Board eligible and participates in professional society.

Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider

Preferred: Board certified

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: Two years clinical experience in similar department
