Radiation Therapist - Full-Time Days FLEX - CHOAThe Radiation Therapist works under an oncologist as part of a medical team to prepare patients and administer radiation treatments for cancer and some other conditions. They take precise measurements of patients for treatment and may fit them with specialized equipment to be used during sessions. During the course of treatment, they will monitor the patient's responses, including side effects, and may adjust the schedule or doses of radiation accordingly.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Providing individualized radiation therapy treatments to patients, in consultation with the oncology team.
- Explaining the process to patients and answering any questions.
- Assessing patients' reactions to treatments, providing advice on the side effects of treatments, and methods of alleviating these.
- Understand and operate various imaging and treatment equipment
- Collect and manage relevant patient information
- Help ensure proper positioning of patients for treatment using masks, and other immobilization equipment
- Ensure that safety protocols are followed for patient, family and staff
- Performing quality assurance tests on simulation and treatment machines to ensure they are in working order.
- Schedule patient visits to follow treatment plan
Required Skills and Experience:- Graduate of a formal radiation oncology technology program with a certification by A.R.R.T. Current New York State License (L.R.T) required.
- 1 year experience working as a radiation therapist preferred
- Licensure: Certification through ARRT
Preferred Skills and Experience:- Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
- Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
- Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.
Physical Requirements:- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment. Ability to stand for long periods of time, Attention to detail and ability to master and troubleshoot technical machinery. Ability to both follow direction and act independently
Working Location:- Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850. CHOA.

Pay Disclosure:- Standard rate $40.00 to $59.00 per hour plus benefits
