Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Radiation Oncology Systems Analyst, you will help the Radiation Oncology clinical team manage and optimize our specialized treatment information systems so they can maintain seamless workflows and high levels of patient care.

Every day you will serve as the technical bridge between enterprise security mandates and the complex operational requirements of Varian treatment systems. You will be expected to collaborate with the Chief Physicist to oversee hardware infrastructure, ensure workstation integrity through updates and remote access solutions, and provide expert training to new staff on Varian Aria/Eclipse systems.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong background in clinical information systems, experience in managing secure IT infrastructure within a high-stakes clinical environment, and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical processes to clinical users.

  • Collaborates directly with CommonSpirit IT Cybersecurity, local End User Services (EUS) IT and Varian vendor, to establish and maintain validated configurations and appropriate system security protocols for Radiation Oncology Varian systems (including patching, anti-virus, and PHI). This role actively distinguishes between Dignity owned workstations and vendor-restricted clinical assets, ensuring security measures do not compromise clinical performance and comply with the Commonspirit Health and local state regulatory standards.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between Varian vendor and Commonspirit IT teams for project interface testing, ensuring seamless integration of new Varian technologies into the clinic's workflow. Provides consultative support on the integration of Radiation Oncology systems with other operational platforms (e.g., Cerner, Athena) during relevant projects or discussions.
  • Assesses radiation oncology systems and serves as the first point of contact for Varian software installs, new user provisioning and for IT-related clinical system failures. Works directly with CommonSpirit IT and Cybersecurity departments to troubleshoot access, remote connectivity and interface issues specifically to Radiation Oncology systems, ensuring that support tickets are resolved with an understanding of clinical risk and patient safety priority.
  • Responsible for training Radiation Oncology staff on Varian Aria/Eclipse desktop application and new system implementations. Communicates downtime protocols and security updates effectively to all stakeholders to minimize operational disruption.
  • Monitors and maintains an up-to-date, real-time inventory of network addresses, system configurations, and software versions for all Radiation Oncology assets. Ensures all Varian software installed devices are correctly mapped within Active Directory (AD) to prevent unauthorized patch pushes or software changes that violate vendor validation requirements.
  • Occasional travel is required between Sacramento and Carmichael Radiation Oncology centers for onsite work.
Job Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or informatics technology OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in implementation, troubleshooting, and conducting training of radiation oncology systems, imaging systems, informatics or

    information system management.

  • Strong information technology and computer skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in developing technical documentation.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred:

  • Experience with managing complex projects involving a large number of stakeholders.

  • One (1) year healthcare experience
  • Previous PACS/RIS experience
