Under limited supervision, responsible for calculating computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. May lead or mentor lower level team members.
Responsibilities- Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs in accordance with departmental procedures and generally accepted Dosimetry practices.
- Work closely with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist to develop customized treatment plans for the patients, reflective of the prescription and any other special instructions.
- Calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations and records treatment data.
- Performs verification checks and applies quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of dose calculations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Full knowledge and understanding of radiation therapy dosimetry.
- Ability to communicate well with others in order to provide direction in clinical dosimetry training to Medical Dosimetrists and students.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships, within individual work groups and across departments, through open communication and collaboration; works with others to accomplish goals and objectives.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree degree in a physical or biological science; or graduate of hospital/college affiliated medical dosimetry school is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years experience in radiation therapy dosimetry is required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
CMD - Certified Medical Dosimetrist required.
