Full Job Description
About the Role

Fabuwood is looking for a detail-oriented R&D Engineer to join our Product Development team. This role is focused on researching concepts, creating drawings and documentation, and supporting structured execution throughout the R&D and NPI process. You will work closely with senior R&D members, Product Development, and Implementation teams to move ideas from early exploration into clear, validated, launch-ready solutions.

This position blends technical research, documentation, CAD work, and project ownership, with some hands-on prototyping as needed. It is ideal for someone who is more computer- and systems-focused, but still comfortable supporting physical testing and validation when required.

What You'll Do

Research and Concept Development
  • Research solutions, industry standards, and best practices using online and technical resources.
  • Explore and document design concepts, construction methods, and alternative approaches.
  • Evaluate options and tradeoffs to support R&D decision-making.

Documentation and Drawings (Primary Focus)
  • Create and maintain CAD drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation.
  • Document concepts, prototypes, testing results, decisions, and best practices.
  • Translate R&D ideas into clear, structured documentation for downstream teams.
  • Maintain organized records to support repeatability, scale, and future improvements.
  • Ensure drawings and documentation are accurate, clear, and ready for manufacturing and implementation.

R&D Support and Prototyping
  • Support physical prototyping and testing when needed.
  • Assist with A/B comparisons, validation, and iterative improvements.
  • Collaborate with R&D on feasibility, materials, and construction methods.
  • Provide technical support to hands-on R&D efforts without being shop-based full time.

Project Management and Execution
  • Own R&D workstreams from concept through handoff to implementation.
  • Help define scope, priorities, timelines, and dependencies for R&D initiatives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Product, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations).
  • Track progress, identify risks, and help resolve blockers early.
  • Support smooth transitions from R&D into NPI and go-live phases.

What You Bring
  • Strong documentation, drawing, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and 3D tools.
  • Familiarity with Cabinet Vision, 2020 or similar cabinetry/design software.
  • Experience researching technical solutions and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining attention to detail.
  • General understanding of cabinetry, construction, or manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Clear communicator who works well with both technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in R&D, Product Development, or Engineering roles.
  • Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) or product launch processes.
  • Background in cabinetry, construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience supporting project timelines, priorities, and cross-functional work.

Who You Are
  • Organized, methodical, and dependable.
  • Strong at turning ideas into clear documentation and drawings.
  • Comfortable working primarily on a computer, with occasional hands-on support.
  • A clear communicator who collaborates well across teams.
  • Calm under pressure and adaptable as priorities change.
  • Curious, resourceful, and motivated by solving practical problems.
