Customer Operations is seeking a Borough Manager to serve at the Queens Business Center. The Borough Manager is the primary manager for the Business Center staff and manages the day-to-day operations. Under general direction with a wide latitude of accountability and professionalism for independent initiative and judgment, the selected individual will demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to be responsible for the overall operation in overseeing and be responsible for 20 plus staff members. Reporting to the Senior Director, the selected candidate's duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: -Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions to ensure the effective and efficient processing of tax documents and payments, parking violations and payments, and all other charges collected by the Department. -Direct the staff in assisting the public in finding information in all areas under the Department's purview. In addition, assure resources are fully maximized in performing these tasks. -Act as the Chief Customer Service agent of the center, handling and resolving the most challenging issues and systemic problems, brought before the cashier and customer service staff while articulating the divisional goals. This includes working closely with the Managing Administrative Law Judge in the Adjudications Division and managing the daily operational needs of that division at the Borough Business Center. -Responsible for assuring the staff provides customer service at the highest standards set by the Department. In pursuit of these standards, the Manager is the primary lead for the proper application of all policies in providing training, evaluating, as well as addressing Time and Leave issues, and applying disciplinary path protocols when needed. -Demonstrate knowledge of and support for the City's EEO Policy and Procedures, and the Agency's EEO Plans by conducting supervisory meetings at least twice a year and ensure that every employee receives EEO training every two years as well. -Responsible for making sure that the Business Center processes all work effectively and efficiently by working closely with the supervisory staff in developing specific plans of action to improve performance of employee not meeting their standards. -Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the weekly and monthly reports. -Perform special assignments and work with other divisions within the agency as needed, working closely with the Managing Administrative Law Judge in the Adjudications Division, and actively participate in implementing new policies to improve the workflow and production in the Business Center. Additional Information: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed between the City and the Collective Bargaining Unit representing employees serving in the civil service title. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience requiring independent decision-making concerning program management or planning, allocation for resources and the scheduling and assignment of work, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1" above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1" above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1", "2" or "3" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience described in "1", "2" or "3" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 32bd years.
