Your role and responsibilities
You would be responsible for conducting experimental investigations of IBM's quantum hardware. You would be expected to correlate device performance with modelling and theoretical predictions, identify fidelity limiting mechanisms, and propose new directions to pursue to improve IBM's quantum computers. We are looking for people with prior experience in experimental quantum computing, but not necessarily superconducting qubits, who can work effectively as an independent contributor in a large dynamic team of scientists.
Required education
Doctorate Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- PhD in physics or related field
- Post doc or professional job experience in experimental quantum computing
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Research background in the field of superconducting qubits
- Experience laying out and simulating quantum devices

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
