Job Description

HilltopSecurities is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join our team in New York. This opportunity is ideal for a strategic and analytical professional who enjoys using statistical and mathematical techniques to evaluate data. In this role, you will develop reports, perform quantitative analysis, and contribute to key business initiatives. We are looking for someone that is collaborative and a true problem-solver with strong analytical skills who can work independently and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Performs research and stays abreast of developments within field and contributes to directional strategy for one or more areas of the organization
  • Works with specialized software programs in order to calculate risk, pricing, and/or other values for senior management.
  • Apply numerical and quantitative statistical techniques using the data from various financial transactions
  • Maintain and modify all analytical models in use
  • Interpret results for analytical procedures
  • Consult industry / organization experts, confer with other engineers and analysts to understand strategies, unique dynamics and performance to enhance analysis
  • Define and recommend model specifications and data collection methods
  • Apply critical thinking to solve customer or operational requirements
  • Perform tasks and applies knowledge of principles and methods necessary to meet operational requirements
  • Interpret and explain products and/or processes
  • Review and analyze data
  • Prepare or maintain records
  • Other functions as needed


Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Degree preferred in relevant discipline
  • 0-2 years related experience in financial markets and security industry (mathematics, data science, or software development)
  • Computer hardware, operating system (Windows or Mac), and software/application (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook etc.) skills
  • Demonstrated skills in statistical coding
  • Advanced object-oriented experience (C++, Python, Java etc.)
  • Ability to work with little supervision, independently or within a team
  • Pass the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam, Series 7 & 63 within six (6) months of hire; the firm will provide support and resources to assist with preparation.
