Job Title: Quality Process Engineering Automation Systems

Location: Cambridge, ON | On-site

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $90,000-$120,000/year

The Position:

The Quality Process Engineering: Automation, will validate automation system solutions, including automation concepts, as well as functional and critical requirements. The incumbent will complete testing to ensure machine processes meet customer's technical requirements. The Quality Process Engineering: Automation will also work with internal teams to ensure the adherence to project process while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assist in proposal preparation activities, including but not limited to: responding to customer specification documents, preparation of analyses and supporting documentation as well as buyoff criteria
  • Create models or conduct experiments to validate design outputs and assumptions.
  • Support the development of automation concepts, including those for critical processes and systems to ensure that functional and critical requirements will be met.
  • Identify potentially high-risk elements of the system and develop and lead a mitigation strategy.
  • Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for defining and documenting project quality requirements and equipment specifications such as: concept technical risk assessment, FMEA, functional specification, and buyoff criteria
  • Develop design verification criteria specific to project deliverables (including buyoff criteria) to verify that design outputs will deliver customer requirements.
  • Responsible for systems engineering tasks, including analysis support of all aspects of a machine, including but not limited to; identification, planning, and execution of: System Accuracy, Cycle-time, Vibration, Hazards, thermal analysis, metrology/instrumentation, kinematics, reliability, simulations, testing, statistical analysis,
  • Participate in creation of buyoff criteria for suppliers of third-party equipment, including writing technical specifications, conducting the acceptance tests and approval of the equipment.
  • Engage in proactive measures, such as developing and implementing continuous improvement programs covering production processes and quality management systems.
  • Work with members of the Supply Chain to ensure the quality of raw materials, components or sub-assemblies and supporting documentation meets Eclipse's quality standards.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base.
  • Maintain the Eclipse's quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods.
  • Develop design validation criteria, including design of experiments specific to project deliverables (including buyoff criteria), to validate that equipment as built will meet customer requirements
  • Perform hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate technical risks (proof of principle and engineering studies)
  • Drive and verify machine performance improvements by identifying and executing the appropriate path forward, including conducting root cause analysis, Gage R&R studies, challenge tests or analysis of machine data.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure that customer requirements and expectations have been accurately identified and that the organization is meeting or exceeding customer expectations at PRE-FAT


Other Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to quality technicians on documentation review, metrology techniques and inspection criteria.
  • Analyze failure, corrective, and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
  • Support compliance team with national and international standards and legislation including ISO 9001, GAMP, TSSA
  • Support Standards & Compliance Mgr. with customers' auditors and ensuring the completion of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance priorities and work under short timelines.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met.
  • Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy.

What We're Looking For:
  • Successful completion of a University Degree or College Diploma in QA/QC or related discipline, design or engineering field or related experience
  • Prior experience with engineering research and development or testing, automated systems or machine tools, simulations and modeling, structured problem solving, and statistical analysis is an asset.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude and a good understanding of automation concepts with specific hands-on experience in machine design, automation, motion controls, robotics or vision systems
  • A working knowledge of measurement instruments including caliper, micrometer, indicator, etc,
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical prints and customer specifications. Able to interpret GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of equipment in the quality lab including stationary CMM, laser tracker, Faro Arm. Understand metrology software (Pcdmis, Polyworks, Zone3)
  • General proficiency of Microsoft office suite (including outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint), Minitab, SolidWorks/AutoCAD
  • Training/certification as ISO 9001:2015 internal auditor is an asset.
