Quality Manager

WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS

The Manager, Quality will oversee development, implementation, control, and distribution of all quality practices, standards, methodologies, and metrics. This position will work with the existing Quality Manager to develop an understanding of Roehm Quality standards and best practices with the expectation of assuming the Quality Manager role upon the end of the incumbent's US based assignment. This role will additionally support, guide & proactively work with all directors, managers, supervisors, and employees to maintain and improve the continuous improvement program. This position will support efforts to implement ISO and RC quality standards for the Roehm America LLC Production Site in Bay City, Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Support development, implementation, control, and distribution of all Quality practices, universally applied standards, methodologies, and metrics. Additionally, this role will support development and maintenance of the Quality portion of the Roehm Bay City Production Site document management system. Ensure that the quality requirements of our customers, company and regulatory agencies are fully understood and achieved.
  • Provide oversight and direction of Quality department staff. Identify Quality team strengths and development needs as well as opportunities to develop talent.
  • Ensure equipment is set up to Roehm Quality specifications, including calibrating equipment, ensuring a routine schedule is established for preventive maintenance, and Quality staff are trained and competent in these activities.
  • Support identification of key issues relating to quality and drive continuous improvement activities across the organization.
  • Develop, implement and manage quality KPI's and review and partner with site leadership to assess ongoing performance.
  • Support ISO program development for the new site. Perform ISO/RC internal audits, Quality reporting metrics, department incident investigations, and support Bay City Production Site goals.
  • Review quality complaints to ensure that appropriate corrective actions have been implemented to prevent a recurrence. Champion the root cause analysis concept.
  • Support the implementation of all relevant procedures described in the Global QM System and ensure compliance. Ensure that all in-house systems are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies.

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
  • Bachelors or more advanced degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a leadership role in the areas of Quality Control in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the chemical, plastics, or pharmaceutical manufacturing fields desired. Quality certification(s) preferred.
  • Lab equipment troubleshooting experience with one or more of the following: GC, HPLC, IC, KF,TOC, titrations, including understanding related testing methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing a LIMS Quality management application.
  • Excellent IT skills utilizing available quality software (Metrohm, Compass, or related systems).
  • Experience in implementing, managing, and maintaining ISO compliance is required.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and chemical manufacturing process knowledge. The position requires broad business understanding, strong conceptual and strategic thinking to support a continuous improvement approach.
  • Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, SAP, and internal document storage and retention applications.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to other facilities up to 10%.
  • Languages: English proficiency required. Additional languages are advantageous.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with international teams preferred.
  • Ability to understand and comply with Röhm safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environment with proper PPE including respirators and chemical resistant clothing.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, elevated walkways, and walk, stand, stoop for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • This position will follow a standard weekly schedule, however availability for weekend and holiday coverage during shutdowns and critical use periods may be required.
