Overview of the Position:

Responsible for the management of all quality functions of The Wencor Group's PMA Utah Lab & Assembly team, including policies, procedures, and product quality. Responsible for the performance of these departments and the safety of employees in these areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA regulations, AS9100/ISO9000, FAR Part 21, and OEM contractual requirements.
  • Provide strategic leadership to all employees in the Quality/Assembly Department including regularly training on the Quality Management System, performing 1:1's, performance evaluations, goals, interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary actions, as necessary.
  • Manage Quality System, in relation to PMA Lab, which includes oversight of all related Quality Assurance Procedures, internal audits, customer audits, regulatory audits and responses, root cause analysis, and corrective action system for Quality and Assembly team.
  • Submit reports of departmental metrics and serious defects conditions in accordance with the procedures described in the Wencor QMS, timely and accurately.
  • Work with Lab and Assembly teams to develop Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and report daily/weekly on KPI's, as required.
  • Develop manufacturing planning, execution, and shop floor discipline. Develop workflow processes to align with lean principles, focusing on process optimization, waste reduction, and productivity enhancement.
  • Manage all aspects of the Metrology process: training, performing inspection, and test analysis, as necessary.
  • Lead and manage a continuous process improvement program, incorporating Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Prepare and achieve department goals and objectives to focus on product quality, reduction in PQEs, variation reduction, reduced backlog, improved turnaround time, and increased profitability.
  • Prepare and manage the department's annual budget.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other continuous improvement concepts and methodologies.
  • Proficient working within AS9100/ISO9000, FAR Part 21, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to process map and update procedures, instructions, and training documents, as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) to build and reporting departmental metrics.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents, bubble drawings, specifications, and test reports.
  • Knowledge of current quality techniques, control methods, procedures, SPC, and FMEA.
  • Knowledge of operational methods employed by Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design, preferred.
  • Skilled with TipQA, M3, and JobBoss, preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, ring/pin gauges, optical comparator, etc., preferred.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Regulations specifically 14 CFR Part 21 (Certification Procedures for Products and Articles), ISO9000 series, AS9100, AS9102, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance in aerospace/aviation, preferred.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.


Education/Experience Requirements:

Previous management experience required. Bachelor's degree in the Sciences, Business, Engineering, or other technical fields; as well as five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by the American Society of Quality, preferred.
