Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing the overall plant quality system and product testing. The Quality Manager is also responsible for the supervision of the entire Quality Department.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Represents the plant and Avient in all aspects of professional dealings with customers, the technology community, and the commercial group
  • Resolves and communicates customer complaints
  • Manages technical and quality questions from internal and external sources
  • Oversees that all manufacturing-related processes are in control and that all product produced at the facility meets the requirements of the end-use customer
  • Ensures process conditions are monitored and controlled for product consistency and according to specified conditions
  • Ensures that product and process changes are made only according to the sequence of activities specified in the appropriate and related processes and procedures
  • Oversees testing in accordance to Avient's procedures and ensures all product grading is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner
  • Coordinates investigation and corrective action on all plant-related customer complaints
  • Uses Customer Feedback and CAPA modules in ETQ Software to document complaint information and subsequent actions
  • Utilizes Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technical Associates to investigate complaints and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Assesses training needs and provides training to lab/production employees
  • Owns and manages the processes and procedures to maintain certification and applicable regulatory requirements, as needed and assigned, including ISO 9001
  • Manages plant-specific continuous improvement processes, including Quality and Process Engineering projects and system enhancements
  • Other duties as assigned


Physical/Environ. Demands

The typical work week is Monday through Friday with occasional overtime. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit for prolonged periods of time, talk and listen, work in an office environment where noise level is low to moderate, and occasionally lift to 25 pounds. This position will also work in the applications lab at times along with occasionally supporting customer trials that would take place in a production environment; use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; talk and/or hear. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SAP
  • Demonstrated success with critical communications - internal and external customers to gain alignment and progress toward goal
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions to resolve critical issues
