Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Role/Purpose:

  • Quality Management Engineer Sr. will drive and support the continuous improvement of product & process quality in the supply chain (end to end product engineering & manufacturing and delivery processes) to reduce their Cost-of-Poor-Quality and improve their Quality performance in the eyes of the customers by enhancing and standardizing Quality Management, Warranty Management with Quality Data Analytics and Tools/Tool Boxes/Skills. Drive PIUS quality enhancement through data analytics and implementing improvement actions cross functionally in PIUS for all value streams by collaborating with colleagues, suppliers and SBU's globally.
  • Major areas of the focus on supplier quality, product quality, customer feedbacks as for harmonized quality management system and compliance; fully utilization of quality process methods, RCA, A3, 8D, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, etc. to drive initiatives for continuous improvement and bring the related cost down. Fully master the usage of Global Sterndrive's quality toolboxes, such as GQM, BI report, Service CRM, QNZX and others, in order to effectively analyze data and identify areas for improvement. Quality Management Engineer Sr. identify need to better maintain ISO 9001 QMS certification running effectively with all sufficient quality records/database to support it.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strong support to Head of Quality for Strategic Development and Implementation of a proficient & robust Quality Management System across Product Inspection NA
  • Drive "Zero Defect" mentality across PO; active leadership in critical Quality problems internally, with MOs or in the field with customers to ensure a proper, systematical and deep-dive process is followed to understand the problem, the risk, the containment and countermeasures.
  • Proactively analyze QN ZX data from customer complaints and drive effective CAPA against recurrence with priority. Good collaboration with MO, Service teams on quality.
  • Responsible for establishment of a proper escalation process to ensure that MOs and POs report detected quality problems according to their severity and impact on financial targets, deliveries, and customers relationships to get prioritized and effectively addressed across PIUS or SBUs.
  • Analyze the status quo and identify weaknesses and risks in processes, procedures, tools used and identify inconsistencies between the businesses in how processes and procedures are defined and executed.
  • Support the organization in their efforts to achieve standard Quality Certifications (e.g., ISO9001) in a standardized fashion
  • Quality Monitoring through statistical analysis and defect levels
    • Leverage the existing Global Quality Monitoring (GQM) system to regularly collect and measure quality-related feedback from the Market Organizations (MOs) and Channels and create a sustainable process with the Product Managers to review this feedback and document actionable countermeasures. Further enhance these processes and tools to ensure we can demonstrate reduced COPQ & warranty costs.
    • Good data analytical and maintenance on those crucial quality indexes: COPQ, ZXQN, ZX OTD, DPU, PFRW, ARRW, warranty customer repair, etc.
  • Implementation of process quality audit according to quality statistic analysis result from QN, GQM, COPQ, warranty repair due to product failure, etc. to drive quality continuous improvement.
  • Strongly support and implement Sterndrive Quality Initiative to overall improve operation, market strategies.
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply; aid Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined new product development process.
  • Collaborate regional team to help supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting requirements.
  • Strong support overall supplier quality control activities, supplier quality improvement programs, supplier visits, including application with MTPAP for materials quality.
  • Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance, quality monitoring through statistical analysis and defect levels for supplier Quality performance.
  • If necessary, support to conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  • Develop adequate Training and Skill Development for Quality peers and Teams in the PO and MOs as well as for Product Managers.
  • Good collaboration with all SBUs and quality teams in different plants.


What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing and QM processes
  • Expertise in database analytics capability
  • Knowledge of various quality system methodologies Lean, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA ,PFMEA, PPAP, etc. preferred
  • Good overall understanding of mechanical and electrical manufacturing methods (machining, welding, forming, assembly and electrical wiring)
  • Willing to work as needed to support production and customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all departments.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally


Minimum Education / Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Quality related field (or comparable on-the-job experience).
  • Minimum 3 years QC experience
  • Previous experience in a quality leadership role is preferred
