Full Job Description
Inspects work in progress and completed phases on major construction projects to ensure that work is completed according to specifications, building codes and quality standards. Ensures that materials and equipment have been fully tested/inspected at the manufacturing facilities and confirms that all documentation of passed inspections is in order. Directs the correction and/or replacement of material, equipment or work that does not conform with specifications, building codes and quality standards.

Primary Purpose
Serves as a recognized authority in construction quality, influencing project design and execution to achieve superior standards. Drives strategic improvements by integrating best practices and advising on regulatory compliance.

The Quality Lead is responsible for ensuring the project's quality management system is effectively implemented across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction. This role serves as the primary quality interface between Sempra Infrastructure and the EPC contractor, driving compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a recognized expert in construction quality control, providing technical guidance during design and execution phases.
  • Establishes quality assurance strategies for large-scale projects, incorporating technician and professional insights.
  • Reviews and validates project documentation for adherence to quality standards before leadership approval.
  • Leads investigations of systemic quality issues and develops preventive measures for leadership endorsement.
  • Represents the organization in discussions with regulators and external stakeholders on quality matters.
  • Develops training programs to enhance quality competencies across technical and professional tracks.
  • Contributes to the development of organizational quality policies and standards in collaboration with leadership.
  • Provides expert input on emerging trends and best practices to influence project quality outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Required: Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience
  • Required: Typically requires 10 years of related experience.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of QA/QC experience on large-scale LNG, petrochemical, or oil & gas EPC projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Required: Quality Control - A system of maintaining standards in products by testing a sample of the output against the specification.
  • Required: Inspection Management - A critical process of quality control that involves measuring, examining, and reviewing materials against standard requirements to ensure materials or components conform to the standards and latest guidelines.
  • Required: Construction Management - Oversees construction projects from the beginning planning stages all the way through completion to ensure quality delivery with regards to the project's schedule, cost, quality, safety, scope and function.
  • Required: Quality Standards Management - Develop, review and communicate a clear, quality expectations and standards within an organization that are aligned to the company's values and business objectives. This encompasses the setting and implementation of quality expectations for products and services delivered to both internal or external clients.
  • Required: Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
  • Required: Risk Management - Identifies, evaluates and manages risks by developing and implementing risk management strategies, frameworks, policies, procedures and practices.
  • Required: Project/Program Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
  • Required: Quality Testing - The systematic process of evaluating and verifying that a product or service meets predefined quality standards and requirements through testing and validation procedures. It aims to ensure that the final deliverable is of high quality and free from defects or issues.
  • Required: Root Cause Analysis - The process of discovering the root causes of problems in order to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Required: Documentation and Records Management - Creating, distributing, using, maintaining and disposition of recorded information maintained as evidence of business activities and transactions.
