Improvement/Quality Engineer, is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, efficiency, and process stability across manufacturing operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field; or equivalent technical education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Continuous Improvement roles.

Preferred EDuCATION AND Experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering or technical field.
  • Experience in electronics or ceramic manufacturing.
  • Experience working in small to mid-sized manufacturing environments.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from the American Society of Quality (ASQ).
  • Experience in high-reliability manufacturing environments (e.g. military, medical, or aerospace industries.
  • Fluency in Spanish

Continuous Improvement, Data Analysis & Corrective Action
  • Lead initiatives to improve yield, reduce scrap/rework, and enhance process capability (Cp/Cpk).
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, loss drivers, and improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct failure analysis and structured root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, PDCA).
  • Implement and validate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Develop and sustain process controls to prevent recurrence and ensure stability.

Quality Engineering & Operational Support
  • Support MRB activities, including troubleshooting non-conforming material and determining risk-based dispositions.
  • Provide technical guidance on drawings, specifications, and measurement systems.
  • Support incoming inspection for critical raw materials.
  • Assist in resolving internal quality issues impacting production.

Customer, Supplier & QMS Support
  • Support RMA investigations and customer-related quality issues.
  • Assist in resolving supplier quality issues impacting production or customers.
  • Participate in internal and external audits (ISO9001, AS9100, ISO14001) and support audit readiness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement process improvements and ensure alignment between procedures and shop-floor execution.
  • Support updates to procedures, work instructions, and related training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001 and quality management system principles.
  • Ability to audit manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and structure problem-solving techniques (8D, 5-Why's, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), fishbone)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of Design of Experiment (DOE) and statistical analysis.
  • Working knowledge of inspection methods and measurement systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable improvements.
  • Effective communication across technical and production teams.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing requests, while keeping lines of communication open and the team satisfied.
  • High attention to detail and ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Must have the ability to follow safety procedures when using manufacturing/testing equipment.
  • Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction.
  • Capable of prioritizing and determining what needs to be completed according to department needs and workload.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to incorporate business considerations into technical decisions.
