Job SummaryCome work as a Quality Improvement Advisor, Medical Quality Leadership & Practice with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!The position works closely with stakeholders to support the data & measurement for quality improvement initiatives by navigating the data systems, advising on data methodology, conducting analysis of clinical systems data, and ensuring compliance to VCH data governance and privacy policies.
Reporting to the Manager, Medical Quality Leadership & Practice, the QI Advisor is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the PQI & Spread QI education strategy in accordance with SSC mandate. The SSC strategies may include but are not limited to, engaging with medical staff to discuss, prioritize and act on system improvement opportunities; supporting medical staff and project teams in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives to build capacity in QI skills and leadership. This includes collaborating with staff from PQI & SQI, SSC Central, Learning Technologies and key partners to identify learning gaps and develop learning objectives such as QI and Change Management competencies. The QI Advisor determines educational delivery methods which may include online and blended learning education programs and training modules using a variety of learning modalities, and ensures educational strategies address the needs of medical leadership across various departments.

As a Quality Improvement Advisor, Medical Quality Leadership & Practice with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:- Identify learning needs and strategies around QI and change management.
- Design, develop, and deliver QI educational programming to increase capability and capacity for medical staff leadership.
- Design and develop instructor led, eLearning, and blended courses:
- Develop project plans for training program development.
- Perform skill/competency task analysis.
- Determine specific learning objectives.
- Write and sequence learning objectives.
- Develop and test training materials to support educational programming (i.e. lesson plans, activities, eLearning modules, etc.);
- Teach and facilitate training sessions; and Develop evaluation measures to continuously improve based on feedback and outcome measures.
- Use multipronged educational strategies including one-to-one learning, workshops, courses, on-line programs, experiential learning, etc. to develop a blended educational approach that includes education materials and associated facilitator guides to address the specific learning requirements.
- Utilize best practices in educational learning theory and instructional design methodology suited for blended learning course development.
- Develop new ways to make courses and instructional media delivery more effective, efficient, engaging, interactive and beneficial to a diverse audience.
- Provide expertise in adapting current curricula to alternative delivery channels such as e-learning, self-study packages, virtual, etc.
- Coach and support subject matter experts to develop and revise teaching materials to effectively deliver on learning objectives.
- Organize and facilitate quality education events in collaboration with local, internal, and external partners.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Three (3) to five (5) years' recent, related experience in adult learning and development, quality improvement implementation, and evaluation.
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare discipline, business administration, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Lean, Six Sigma or related professional certification is an asset.
Knowledge & Abilities- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, change management and project management practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing education strategy in collaboration with designated partners with a focus in developing quality improvement training.
- Ability to assess, design, implement and evaluate curriculum, learning strategies, and methodologies, including education plans, educational materials, resources, and lesson plans.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles, best practices and content design using a variety of methods (e.g., blended learning strategies such as online curriculum design, videos, and interactive education delivery). Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS), e.g., Moodle
- Demonstrated ability to use interactive teaching methods to engage learners and facilitate critical thinking and problem resolution.
- Demonstrated superior oral and written abilities with a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work effectively in both self-directed and team environments.
- Understanding of health care disciplines and networking abilities to support enhanced educational practices and programming.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
- Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues faced by people from equity-deserving groups.
