Job Summary

The Quality Field Superintendent is the senior field inspection authority responsible for supervising and coordinating all inspection and quality verification activities on a project or across multiple job sites. This role ensures that construction operations comply with contract documents, technical specifications, regulatory codes, and company quality standards. The Quality Field Superintendent leads a team of inspectors across various disciplines and serves as the primary quality interface between field operations, subcontractors, engineers, and client representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Act as the primary point of contact for inspection-related matters with the client, third-party inspectors, and subcontractors.
2. Coordinate documentation handover for system acceptance, commissioning, and final client approval.
3. Direct and oversee all field inspection activities, including structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and specialty disciplines as required by project scope.
4. Ensure all inspections are performed safely and in accordance with site-specific safety protocols.
5. Ensure that work-in-progress, materials, and completed construction activities conform to contract requirements, approved submittals, and applicable codes.
6. Manage and verify the execution of Inspection and Test Plans {ITPs), method statements, and test procedures.
7. Participate in pre-activity meetings, constructability reviews, and inspection readiness meetings.
8. Participate in quality audits, walkthroughs, and readiness reviews.
9. Prepare daily, weekly, and milestone inspection summaries for project management and quality leadership.
10. Promote a culture of quality and accountability throughout the field workforce and inspection team.
11. Review and approve inspection reports, weld logs, material traceability records, test data, and turnover documentation.
12. Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, ICC), and quality plans to ensure accurate inspection execution.
13. Supervise, schedule, and mentor inspectors and technicians to ensure coverage, consistency, and technical accuracy.
14. Support continuous improvement initiatives in field execution and inspection methodology.
15. Track nonconformance reports (NCRs), oversee corrective actions, and participate in root cause analysis and resolution.

Minimum Job Requirements:

1. 1O+ years of experience in field inspection or quality assurance/control on major construction or transportation projects.
2. American Concrete Institute (ACI) preferred certification.
3. Experience supervising multi-discipline inspection teams on large-scale or complex projects.
4. Expert knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, DOT, ICC, etc.).
5. High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6. ICC Special Inspector certifications preferred (e.g., Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel & Bolting).
7. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
8. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
9. Proficient in reading construction drawings, specifications, and inspection documentation.
10. Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on collaboration and issue resolution.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
2. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
3. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
4. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
6. Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
7. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
8. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/workday.
9. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
10. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
11. Will work various shifts, including swing, night and weekend.
