Full Job Description
Position Summary & Responsibilities

We are seeking an analytical and pragmatic Quality Engineering Lead to drive the quality strategy for our LEO satellite constellation, focusing on a high-rate production. This is a critical operations leadership role responsible for setting and managing quality metrics at the supplier level, bus partner level, and payload assembly level. The ideal candidate will partner closely with suppliers, external bus partners, and contract manufacturers. This role is unique in that it requires a data-driven, analytical approach to quality, emphasizing process control and readiness, while necessitating calculated trades to balance meeting rate production schedules with mission risk-moving beyond the traditional, ideological dogma of full testing common in space production. You will be instrumental in ensuring production and mission readiness through rigorous prototype testing and in-line quality management at the production level.

You should be prepared to work and thrive in a fast moving environment where you are comfortable taking vague requirements and direction and executing on the Logos product mission. We are seeking people who love to solve hard problems, have a bias for action and extreme task ownership.

Responsibilities
  • Quality System Management: Establish and manage key quality metrics, including Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) levels, yields, and in-process validation protocols for all supplier components, bus production/integration, and payload assemblies.
  • Supplier & Partner Quality: Lead quality partnership efforts with key suppliers to define, implement, and audit in-line quality production points, ensuring alignment with rate production schedules.
  • Production Readiness: Define and execute prototype testing requirements to rigorously demonstrate the production readiness of the Logos product.
  • Mission Readiness: Ensure all production and integration systems are validated to successfully meet the product mission requirements, specifically focusing on critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters.
  • Risk & Trade Management: Employ an analytical, data-driven approach to quality, making calculated trades between testing rigor, production rate, and assumed mission risk to meet aggressive schedules.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing processes and quality systems across the entire supply chain and in-house production.
  • Leadership & Communication: Serve as a key operations leader, communicating quality status, risks, and performance to executive leadership and cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain).
Basic Qualifications
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Operations within a high-volume, complex hardware production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing quality metrics such as AQL, yield analysis, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Experience partnering with external suppliers and contract manufacturers to manage in-line quality and production readiness.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
  • Experience in a hybrid production environment (e.g., combining commercial/high-rate manufacturing practices with aerospace/high-reliability standards).
  • Direct experience with LEO satellite systems, or complex regulated hardware (e.g., automotive, medical devices, defense).
  • Certification in relevant quality disciplines (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
  • Strong understanding of space system qualification and acceptance testing principles (e.g., protoflight testing) and the ability to tailor them for a rate production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to make risk-informed quality decisions under aggressive timelines.
