Quality Engineer

Department: Power Systems Division (PSD)

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: San Antonio

Description

The Quality Engineer role ensures the quality of Power Generation solutions, serving as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating manufacturing processes, quality programs, and product standards, while recommending improvements.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Evaluates, prioritizes, and implements project work plans to optimize customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Tracks and resolves quality issues, ensuring deadlines, productivity, and customer expectations are met.
  • Conducts post-project reviews to assess quality outcomes and recommend improvements.
  • Performs inspections to assess quality, resource needs, and supplier capabilities.
  • Analyzes supplier quality documentation and manufacturing processes.
  • Identifies process gaps, eliminates inefficiencies, and recommends improvements.
  • Develops strong business relationships to ensure project success.
  • Provides technical support to remove roadblocks and assist stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate quality risks and issues to management.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date project records.
  • Develops and implements best practices for quality evaluation and execution.
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a group of managers, coworkers, internal and external customers
  • Understand Quality Management Systems and apply aspects based on priority of company goals
  • Desire and ability to innovate and improve upon current processes.
  • Strong knowledge of project engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project, and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and process improvement.
  • Technical aptitude to quickly learn and apply new concepts and tools.


Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field required or 4 years of experience in related field required.
  • Two to four years of experience in Process Improvement or Continuous Improvement preferred.
  • Manufacturing or Power Generation background preferred.
  • Six Sigma training preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None


Travel:

  • Up to 30%, overnight travel required.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Work Environment:

  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment, in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoor conditions on jobsite.
  • Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
