Moog's Space & Defense - Power & Data group is seeking a Quality Engineer in Highland Heights, OH or Cleveland, OH. The Quality Engineer supports the manufacturing operation by ensuring that products meet customer expectations and that all proper procedures are followed and documented during manufacturing processes.

This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This job is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Quality Management Systems Manager.

As a Quality Engineer, you will:
  • Executes established quality system requirements, promotes continuous process improvement, and advances quality programs that support the company's business plan.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the company's products, processes, quality systems, and capabilities to leverage in executing QMS requirements.
  • Performs First Article Inspections of complex assemblies to comply with customer and AS9102 requirements.
  • Provides training and direction to Quality staff members, production technicians, and front office personnel on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Develops effective relationships within the organization to provide professional quality assurance support to Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to serve our customers and promote our products and services.
  • Participates in internal audits, AS audits, customer audits, and source inspections.
  • Participates in the supplier rating and audit system, internal material review board activity, and issues corrective action requests.
  • Follows up to ensure that action taken for corrective action requests is effectively completed.
  • Maintains hands-on responsibility for incoming and outgoing inspections.
  • Performs all tasks and assignments in compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Stays updated on industry trends, new technologies, and quality methodologies.
  • Regular internal contact with senior-level management, support staff, and technicians.
  • Direct external contacts, which include customers and vendors.
  • Direct interaction with second and third-party auditors during Quality Systems Assessments.


Performance Expectations
  • Maintains on-time completion of Corrective Action Requests, including communicating with and monitoring suppliers' progress when corrective action is needed.
  • Performs internal audits per the internal audit schedule with consistency and accuracy.
  • Performs incoming inspection of components as needed to maintain production schedules.
  • Maintains timely and accurate records and reports.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed organizational, time management, and project management skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a multi-task, fast-paced environment.
  • Competent in writing, verbally communicating, and presenting technical material to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to drive results through others, with a sense of urgency, and in responding to customer needs.


It'd be great if you also had:
  • ASQ Certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Engineer) are preferred.
  • AS9100 Internal Auditor accreditation to meet auditor competence defined in AS9104:2022.
  • Applies a working knowledge of ISO and other applicable quality rating systems.
  • Possesses a strong manufacturing background with quality systems improvement experience.
  • Possesses practical, real-life experience with implementing and using an AS9100-certified system.
  • Proficient with standard office productivity tools and equipment (i.e., Microsoft Suite) and related company systems and programs.
  • Experience with DISCUS or similar AS9102 First Article Inspection software for report preparation.

Salary Range Transparency:
Cleveland, OH $74,000.00-$90,000.00 Annually
