Full Job Description
Leidos is seeking a talented & skilled Program Quality Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems.With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields. Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT solutions for its customers. Leidos is involved in multiple contracts to provide hardware and systems for high energy weapons, launchers, Hypersonics, radar and emission systems, and target surrogates for several DoD customers.

Primary Responsibilities

The Program Quality Engineer will support mechanical and electrical manufacturing and assembly, integration and testing for aerospace and defense manufacturing.
  • The candidate will serve as the quality engineering point of contact for assigned programs, supporting problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain program quality plans, inspection plans, and quality requirement flowdown from contracts to manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Review contract quality requirements and identify the processes, tooling, and documentation needed to comply.
  • Review and approve new drawings and contract documents
  • Support project managers during design, manufacturing readiness reviews, PDR, CDR, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA

- Execute and disposition First Article Inspections (FAI/AS9102) and supplier part approvals.

- Develop and maintain quality metrics - process capability studies, control charts, and measurement system analysis - to monitor Quality Control system effectiveness.

- Lead root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) to identify effective corrective and preventive actions.

- Build and maintain statistical data collection and analysis to surface trends affecting product quality.

- Participate in Material Review Board activities and disposition nonconforming material.
  • Interact with customers to identify quality improvement opportunities and close the feedback loop with manufacturing and development personnel.

- Initiate and execute quality improvement activities (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise product line performance.

- Report quality issues, trends, and losses to Quality Management and program leadership.

- Collaborate with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations.

- Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives on quality issues and verify effective corrective action is implemented.
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.


Basic Qualifications
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of experience or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience in an ISO9001/AS9100 system or equivalent experience in DOD, Aerospace, or Automotive manufacturing quality control. In lieu of a degree, a High school diploma/GED with 10 years of experience will be considered.
  • Candidate must have experience working with non-conforming material, performing failure analysis, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Must have experience writing work instructions, procedures, and implementing Quality Management System (QMS) documentation associated with AS9100.
  • Candidate must be able to review and interpret contract quality clauses and technical data and develop and document appropriate quality verification procedures, plans, and work instructions, including AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in effectively communicating within a team environment.
  • The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Candidate must have active problem-solving skills, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics, CAD models, specifications, and contract quality requirements, and other documents, including review and approval of AS9102 First Article Inspection.
  • Candidates must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the area.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain a final secret security clearance.


Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Agile practices

- Experience and working knowledge with Assembly, Integration and Testing

- Experience in review of Contracts, Statements of Work, Performance Specifications, etc.

- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

- Experience in developing PFMEA and PQCT

Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
