Job Description

Role Summary:
Plan, coordinates and directs quality control programs on manufacturing floor designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established customer requirements. Works closely with external vendors and suppliers to ensure they adhere to ITW standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop robust Control Plans for Production Quality Control. Update with lessons learned through continuous improvement activity
• Performs complex quality audits and sets quality standards for both in-process and finished products and materials.
• Develops and provides guidance in methods for testing, sampling, and training.
• Reports on complex quality analyses and defective products and recommends necessary quality procedure changes
• Ensures compliance throughout all quality testing and validation phases
• Facilitates quality audits and regulatory inspections, and helps lead laboratory studies, research, testing, and operational activities
• Works closely with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that final product meets organization's quality standards
• Provides technical leadership and assist in training less experienced engineers/inspectors.
• Ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products
• Responsible for the mitigation of customer complaints and is the point of contact with the customer
• Reviews control of nonconformance material disposition and inspection of reworked product
• Accurately outlook costs through tracking and reporting
• Measure prototype, pre-production and serial parts during product launch
• Responsible for all serial PPAP documentation
• Facilitate and lead problem solving activity through the 8D Process, DMAIC Principles, and 5-Why Problem Solving
• Interpret SPC to make sound judgement on part quality. Clear understanding of Cpk, Ppk data
• Assist manufacturing engineers with RPN reduction - creating and enhancing our PFMEAs and Control Plans based on lessons learned
• Follow and instill good Safety Practices in accordance with ITW objectives

Qualifications

Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required
• 2-3+ years manufacturing experience in role of Quality Engineer preferred
• Strong communications skills both written and verbal
• Computer Skills - MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Root cause analysis techniques
• Able to read prints. GD&T experience a must
• Must be able to work in a team or individual environment
• Self-motivated individual
• Must have the ability to pay attention to detail
• Must be able to work a flexible shift, including overtime and weekends
