Full Job Description
Quality Engineer II

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Quality Engineer II to plan, implement and maintain the quality assurance/control programs for the Substation Division (SSD).

This position will report to the Substation Division Quality Section Manager and is a hybrid position in Warrendale, PA.

What You'll Do:
  • Investigate and implement the resolution of deficiencies and develop root cause and corrective action summaries for Incident Reports (IRs) and Non-Conformance reports (NCRs) to reduce rework and warranty costs. Perform follow up reviews to measure effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Provide quality assurance support for division developments including creation of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA's). Prepare and deliver reports on findings.
  • Create, update and maintain quality program, procedures and quality documents. Analyze quality data and make recommendations for program improvements.
  • Participate and lead internal audits and collaborate with internal departments to close audit findings. Support ISO 9001 recertification activities by leading and participating on internal and external audits, identifying deficiencies and making corrections.
  • Identify and evaluate SSD, MELCO, supplier, subcontractor, field installation and testing quality issues and trends. Support initiatives and make improvements to meet SSD quality goals.
  • Plan and execute supplier qualification activities for products and services including supplier audits, attending factory acceptance tests and reviewing supplier quality documents.
  • Perform job site safety and quality audits. Prepare and deliver reports with findings and recommendations. Review safety observation reports. Identify, recommend and implement safety improvements.
  • Prepare/review inspection and test plans with internal departments, customers and suppliers. Review bid and project specifications and documentation as related to quality to ensure SSD can comply and make changes if necessary.
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, lessons learned and turnover meetings.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Department by conducting business with outside contacts and other MEPPI departments and divisions in a timely and cooperative manner.
  • Know MEPPI's Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering with 3 to 5 years of experience in a quality role with project work and power equipment, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety regulations and procedures with corresponding safety attitude.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentations skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to read, create and understand technical drawings and material.
  • Ability to safely and properly use inspection tools and test equipment.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project, CAD software, ERP systems and document control systems.
