Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer 1 plays an essential role in ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and supply chain, to translate product requirements into measurable quality standards, monitor production processes, and support root cause analysis when issues arise.

JOB CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support product and process quality in machining operations to ensure parts meet engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve inspection plans, control plans, and quality documentation for machined components and assemblies.
  • Monitor shop-floor quality performance, including scrap, rework, nonconformance, and first-pass yield.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for machining defects, dimensional issues, and process variation.
  • Partner with machinists, manufacturing engineering, and production teams to resolve quality problems and improve process capability.
  • Support first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections as needed.
  • Analyze measurement data and inspection results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in internal audits and help maintain compliance with quality management system requirements and customer standards.
  • Review and disposition nonconforming material in coordination with engineering, operations, and quality leadership.
  • Support supplier quality activities related to machined parts, raw materials, or outside processing when required.
  • Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving consistency, and increasing efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Years of Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
    • Knowledge/experience working in a manufacturing environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Quality practices for military /commercial and Industrial is desired.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods is desired.
    • Familiarity with special processes, such as heat treating, chemical processing and non-destructive testing is desired.

Competitive Compensation
  • Pay Range: $70890 to $117300 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
