Job Description

A considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved, as well as a high level of independent discernment.

Partner with Program Launch Operations Manager (PLOM), Program Engineering Manager (PEM), Quality Engineering Manager, Quality Launch Manager and Lansing Delta Township plant leaders to drive the appropriate priorities and discipline in the organization.

  • Responsible for driving engineering and supplier quality vehicle problem root cause and resolution for your assigned area of the vehicle (Interior, Exterior/Body, or Chassis/Powertrain).

  • The metrics that you will react to in your day-to-day work will be GCA, Plant Direct Run Rate (DRR), Plant Throughput, Ergonomic performance of the vehicle build, Captured Test Fleet (CTF) feedback and lessons learned from previous programs.

  • Responsible for monitoring progress to meet quality goals through common global process assessments, facilitating rapid containment of issues, installation of countermeasures and Leadership concerns to ensure Quality targets are on track.

  • Create and distribute part quality specifications (PQS) based on Design Technical Specification for your assigned area of the vehicle.

  • Provide quality status updates to Program Quality and Readiness Reviews (PQRR9s) and other launch meetings critical to assure Quality and Readiness work meets the customer9s requirements, and are completed on time with integrity; assure there is a high level of awareness of the risk potential of non-green work and provide guidance on whether to proceed or not proceed decisions.

  • Utilize robust problem solving methods such as GM 7-Diamond, Math Data Assessment, Red X/Shainin Problem Solving, use of TAC fixtures (ITAC or ETAC), and use of part gauges, as well as scanning tools to root cause vehicle fit and function as well as build issues.

  • Effectively use PRTS and SPPS to drive resolution of issues

  • Co-Lead the Issue Resolution Team (IRT) as the Plant Lead for your area of the vehicle for LDTs next Launch.

  • Provide design engineers with Lessons Learned from current plant issues (both resolved and unresolved) to avoid repeat issues.

  • Ensure Quality Assessment is performed and all issues are contained/resolved. Co-Lead and Issue Resolution Team (IRT) for your assigned area of the vehicle to drive communication and documentation of issues to Product Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in design release, quality engineering or related field

  • Must be flexible to occasionally rotate from 1st to 2nd or 3rd shift

  • Excellent communication and command skills are necessary to be successful in this position

  • Strong leadership skills, managerial courage, organizational skills, strong business acumen and very strong problem-solving skills

  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-pressure situations and make timely decisions with limited information.

  • Skilled in root cause analysis, structured problem-solving, and crisis communication
