Job Title Quality Assurance Engineer

General Role Description

Monitor and assess the Company's quality assurance program, ensuring supplier compliance with the system design and standards

Role Accountabilities

- Advise on product quality initiatives related to field failures

- Produce root cause analysis (RCA) for field failure events as required, including site investigation

- Distinguish between design issues, manufacturing defects, commissioning errors, and field/environmental conditions

- Maintain failure in time (FIT) reporting on company products

- Maintain and analyze field failure data, and report on trends in field failures in commissioning and production

- Recommend quality metrics to drive company products and supplier equipment improvements, preventive actions, and

business results, and implement as approved

- Direct and coordinate the overall quality specifications and standards for materials and finished products to meet client purchase order requirements

- Monitor and analyze non-conformance data; recommend, develop, and implement appropriate responses in collaboration

with procurement management

- Monitor supplier RCA's and corrective action requests (CAR), critically evaluate RCA quality, and escalate when evidence or corrective actions are insufficient

- Evaluate new equipment suppliers' manufacturing and quality processes, utilizing the Company's supplier qualification in collaboration with procurement

- Evaluate repair and remediation activities and failures to improve quality and RCA production

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering; or related physical or applied science; or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 4 years related work experience in manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance or design engineering with direct responsibility for field failure analysis, supplier quality, and technical root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technically defensible RCAs based on evidence and system-level analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with data analytics tools (Excel, Power BI) and FIT / MTBF reporting
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Possession of a recognized quality certification such as CQE, ASQ, or Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 50%, sometimes with limited notice


Preferred Qualifications

- Successful development of a manufacturing quality process or supply chain quality assurance process

- Power electronics experience: PV Inverter experience and MV Drives in engineering, manufacturing, field repair or quality

- MV Drive experience in engineering, manufacturing, field repair, or quality

- Electrical failure mode analysis (IGBTs, PCBs, capacitors, cooling systems)

- Systems-integration experience involving transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and SCADA
