Full Job Description

The WTCC Quality Engineer – Functionally reports to the WTCC Quality Assurance Assessments and Engineering Supervisor (QAAES) and is responsible for facilitating effective administration and implementation of the WTP Quality Assurance Program & WTP Quality Assurance Manuals requirements.  The WTCC QE assures that activities are planned, performed, and completed in accordance with WTP/WTCC procedures and the WTP QA Manuals. The role ensures that quality program requirements are effectively integrated into WTCC work processes and that compliance is consistently maintained across project activities

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC 

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, science or equivalent education from an accredited college or specific training in area of expertise with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in performance assurance/corrective actions management programs, operations, engineering, or assurance. In lieu of a degree at least 10 years of applied technical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Department of Energy, NRC, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program or other related industrial technical experience desired.

  • Experience in accomplishing work at DOE facilities is desired.

  • Familiarity with Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) programs, processes, and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Support WTCC implementing document/procedure development to ensure quality program requirements are appropriately addressed.

  • Personal ownership for completion of training, obtaining and maintaining required qualifications Assist in development of WTCC quality program documents (e.g., QA Plan) for WTCC activities.

  • Provide input into the required training for WTCC quality assurance and quality control personnel.

  • Support the development, revision, and implementation of QA program documents, procedures, and quality-related instructions.

  • Assisting in the identification of quality attributes in planning processes to ensure work/testing/analysis is accomplished in accordance with WTP QA program requirements.

  • Providing technical discipline support for identification and resolution of quality related issues.

  • Assuring appropriate implementation of the WTP QA Program within the WTCC organization.

  • Assessing implementation and compliance, identifying and reporting quality assurance program deficiencies to line management and the WTCC Site Quality Manager.

  • Participates in audit teams as an auditor responsible for development of audit checklists, writing audit reports and audit findings.

  • Obtaining and/or maintaining NQA-1 Lead Auditor qualification.

  • Ensuring that significant issues are raised to senior management attention to facilitate prompt resolution.

  • Recommend programmatic improvements affecting multiple organizations.

  • Works with the personnel responsible to ensure accurate development of corrective action plans.

  • Responsible for quality assurance activities with some complexity or impact to the project or site in a staff or project function. 

  • Works with project personnel to identify quality trends and assist in the development of quality metrics.  

  • Review and maintain QA/QC documentation, metrics, and status reporting for departmental and project use.

  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity. 

  • This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)  

  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional security requirements.

       

Compensation Details:

$101,573.99 - $157,957.21
