Title:

Quality Director

KBR is looking for a Quality Director to lead all Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) activities for a major LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) project. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the project quality program to ensure all engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities comply with project requirements, regulatory obligations, industry standards, and client expectations.


The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing quality programs on large-scale LNG, petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, or other major industrial construction projects and have a proven track record of delivering world-class quality performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

•    Lead the overall project Quality Management Program from project execution through startup and handover.
•    Develop and implement quality strategies, policies, procedures, and performance objectives aligned with project requirements.
•    Manage project QA/QC personnel, inspection teams, and quality specialists across all project phases.
•    Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
•    Oversee quality activities related to: 
o    Engineering and design reviews
o    Procurement and supplier quality surveillance
o    Fabrication and module construction
o    Civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation installation
o    Mechanical completion and system turnover
o    Commissioning and startup readiness
•    Direct inspection and test programs, including development and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
•    Lead management of non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Establish and monitor quality performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
•    Coordinate quality audits of contractors, suppliers, fabrication facilities, and project execution teams.
•    Ensure all project documentation, turnover packages, quality records, and certification requirements are properly maintained.
•    Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and client representatives to resolve quality-related issues.
•    Support risk management efforts through proactive identification and mitigation of quality concerns.
•    Provide regular quality status reports and updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
•    Promote a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the project organization.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, a related technical discipline OR equivalent construction experience.
•    Minimum 15 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within LNG, petrochemical, refinery, power generation, gas processing, or major industrial construction projects.
•    Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing large project quality organizations.
•    Strong knowledge of: 
o    ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
o    ASME, API, ASTM, AWS, and applicable industry standards
o    Welding, NDE/NDT, and fabrication quality requirements
o    Inspection and testing programs
o    Supplier quality management
o    Mechanical completion and turnover processes
o    Commissioning and startup quality requirements
•    Demonstrated experience managing quality programs for large EPC, EPCM, or owner-led projects.
•    Experience leading quality audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
•    Proven ability to influence project teams and drive quality performance in complex project environments.
Preferred Qualifications
•    Direct LNG project experience strongly preferred.
•    Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or equivalent certification.
•    Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
•    Lead Auditor certification for ISO 9001 or equivalent quality systems.
•    Experience supporting projects exceeding $1 billion in total installed cost.
•    Familiarity with modular fabrication, international supply chains, and commissioning readiness programs.
•    Experience working directly with owner organizations and regulatory agencies.
