Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent PositionSchedule: 7-days on, 7-days off rotation with 12-hour workdaysDuties & Responsibilities- Collect, dry, and process plant product and circuit samples regularly and as needed, involving heavy lifting of samples weighing between ~5-50 lbs.
- Assist Quality Control technicians in collecting, drying, and processing various geology-pit, environmental, and investigative samples as required.
- Perform dry and wet size analysis of various samples regularly and as needed.
- Conduct assays on multiple sample types using various methods and instrumentation as necessary, following ASTM standards.
- Report analytical data to the Quality Control Supervisor and relevant parties.
- Maintain and update Quality Control analysis data and reports.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in all work areas.
- Inspect, calibrate, and maintain Quality Control instrumentation.
- Adhere to Total Quality Management procedures and practices.
- Periodically monitor and inspect stockpiles.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Conduct routine in-pit seam sampling and carry out sample preparation/analysis.
- Coordinate with engineering and operations to ensure sample results are incorporated into ongoing mining activities.
- Ensure safe and healthy working environment in the pit and metallurgical laboratory.
- Interact between QC Manager, pit operations and Process personnel.
- Maintenance and calibration of key analytical instrumentation.
- Including but not limited to processing coal samples; crushing, pulverizing and floating.
- Performing routine quality control checks to ensure a high quality of work.
- Recording and reporting test results on standardized forms and data capture reports.
- Ensuring that the lab is clean/organized and equipment is maintained and operational.
- Additional duties as required.
Education, Experience & Qualifications- Valid Driver's License
- 1-3 years' relevant experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance setting in an industrial environment is an asset.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination for sample and lab equipment handling.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Literacy skills, including the ability to read manuals and regulatory requirements.
Technical Competencies & Skills- Must be able to work 12-hour day shifts; on a 7x7 rotation/days only
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Proven safety and attendance record.
- Ability to remain calm and work effectively in emergent, high-stress situations.
- Above average computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially spreadsheets and databases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Committed to high standards in health and safety performance.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills, able to manage tasks independently.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, trainees, and leadership.
