Full Job Description
Weyerhaeuser's Columbia Falls MDF facility has a career opportunity for a Quality Control Supervisor. The successful candidate will drive quality, production and safety goals through strong leadership and technical capabilities.

As the Quality Control Supervisor, you will play a key role in the business success of MDF. You will lead a team that is accountable for the continuous monitoring of the quality of our products, optimization of the product and process in response to current operating conditions. You will analyze and interpret data, continuously evaluate the team's performance and reliability of processes/products and provide immediate feedback and recommendations on problems and opportunities. This individual should be highly motivated, with the ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships within your team, as well as with the production and maintenance teams.

Key Functions
  • Responsible for ensuring our products meet specific properties, while maximizing production and meeting customers' expectations
  • Lead your team in safe work practices and ensure proper job and safety rules are understood and followed by all of your team
  • Improve and maintain department performance according to set objectives and established goals
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends in board quality
  • Coordinate with the Technical Director and Sales to monitor resin usage and provide cost forecasts to mill personnel
  • Support, coach and provide timely feedback and direction to the quality control team
  • Actively be involved in assigning work and evaluating job performance
  • Support cross training initiatives to increase talent depth on team
  • Translate Weyerhaeuser's vision into clear goals, objectives and accountabilities
  • Motivate others by engaging them in problem-solving and decision-making

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Wood Products, Engineering or other related field preferred
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
  • MDF or Engineered Wood Product manufacturing experience a plus
  • Commitment to actively promoting and exhibiting a caring safety culture
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals in a complex and fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Strong understanding of Total Quality Principles with focus on the customer, to include QC techniques and tools

  • Must be able to accept and respond to after-hour calls and work weekends/holidays as needed

What We Offer...

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $82,000 - $123,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
