Full Job Description

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Quality Control Supervisor to join our team in Avon, MA! As a Quality Control Supervisor, you willbe responsible for overseeing Quality Control personnel and ensuring that all products and processes meet internal, customer, and regulatory standards. You will proactively identify quality, product, process, and production issues for improvement and corrective/preventative actions to ensure zero impact on the customer.

This is an onsite role in our Avon, MA plant reporting to the Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises a team of Quality Control Technicians.

  • Supports Quality Assurance with root cause analysis of failed parts, including documenting results and compiling records. Assist in quality investigations as needed.

  • Support companywide compliance to ISO 9001 & AS9100 Quality Management System.

  • Facilitate team member process improvement suggestions using problem solving methods.

  • Subject Matter Expert on End Item Acceptance - Delegated Source process for customers. Manage all aspects within the team for training and qualifying inspectors.

  • Coordinate any activities as needed by the QC team in support of Non-Conformance Reporting and Material Review Board.

  • Support process validations efforts and procedures around General Manufacturing Processes and AS9100 requirements. Support First Article Inspections on PPG products in accordance with AS9102.

  • Support creation and implementation of methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment. Support and develop corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.

  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are achieved and maintained.

  • Regular interaction with Engineering, Production, Lean, and Supply Chain groups to resolve and prevent product issues and quality escapes.

  • Generate quality control metrics and reportsas needed to support team and business performance.

  • Participate in New Product & Process Introduction projects.

  • Participate in analysis of rejected or returned products for conformance to specifications and associated corrective actions when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, business administration, production/operations management or related technical field preferred.

  • 3+ years of quality engineering-related experience within a manufacturing environment required, preferably within an aerospace / automotive company.

  • 3+ years of formal people management experience required.

  • Experience training new and existing employees.

  • Preferred experience and skills: Quality role in Aerospace / Automotive Manufacturing industries; APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Controls Plans; Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma; Root Cause Corrective Action; Material Review Board; Document Control; Familiarity working within an AS9100 compliant QMS; Thorough understanding of AS9102.

The base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $93,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 7% of base salary.
