REEL USA has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance & Quality Control Manager with knowledge, skills, and experience to support the quality assurance and control activities. All work tasks are performed in a safe manner while following plant policies and procedures. The Quality Assurance & Quality Control Manager will work on-site at the Springfield, IL location.

How Will You Make an Impact

In this role, your primary duty will be to ensure that the products, materials, and processes meet the highest quality standards. This position will oversee everything from quality control on material reception, in-process fabrication/assembly, final delivery as well as supporting our quality system. This role requires a safety mind-set, self-motivated person with a positive attitude, a ton of good energy, attention to detail, and effective time management. A successful candidate will be someone who can:

  • Work in a safe manner. Actively participates in REEL USA's safety, health, and environmental programs. Attends scheduled team meetings and completes safety training requirements. Keeps work area safe and clean.
  • Validate quality records against applicable standards, drawings and purchasing requirements.
  • Inspect the quality of materials for the use of production.
  • Inspect the quality of in-process product.
  • Inspect and validate inventory coming into the location (Goods Receiving).
  • Manage Non-compliance reports (writing, follow-up and closure).
  • Write inspection reports and other quality documents.
  • Participate in the creation, maintenance and management of the collection of quality records.
  • Participate in the improvement of the quality system.
  • Perform quality control, including dimensional inspection, hardness measurement, paint inspection.
  • Support quality assurance program as needed.
  • Develop and lead the quality team. Coach, provide direction, train, and assess performance of quality team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What Will You Bring to REEL USA
  • Bachelor of Science in Quality Assurance, Quality Management, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a regulated environment (e.g., automotive, aerospace, nuclear, etc.)
  • Proven experience in writing and maintaining quality processes and procedures in a QMS environment.
  • Leadership and previous management of a team.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Autonomy and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Knowledgeable about metrology, materials, calibration, auditing, and inspection techniques with demonstrated ability to utilize relevant hand tools for these purposes.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with ISO 9001, Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices and understand the concept of traceability (product, material, and calibration).
  • Willing and able to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills. Able to work independently as well. Self-motivated with a track record of dependability including work history.
  • A proven positive safety, health, and environmental record. Familiar with topics such as personal protective equipment, lockout / tagout, hot work, safe work permitting, emergency response, and hazard awareness.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain calm and react effectively in critical situations. Experience with accident and near miss reporting, incident investigation, and accountability to standards.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and good touch perception.
  • Physical requirements include but not limited to climbing stairs and ladders, standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting for extended periods, working at heights ladders, and/or grating.
  • Be able to distinguish visual colors and shapes through location and maintain through the course of employment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working under NQA-1 and/or ASME quality requirements.
  • Experience working under AISC and AWS quality requirements.


Travel

Occasional travels are expected for this position and could include:
  • Visiting suppliers during and after an active Project,
  • Visiting REEL sites as required in North America (i.e. USA, Canada).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position (not eligible for overtime), and the working hours may vary from Monday through Friday (8-hour days) or Monday through Thursday (10-hour days).
