Job Title

Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager

Work Setting

This position will oversee quality assurance and quality control activities across RAI's fabrication facilities in Athens, GA; Commerce, GA; and Williamston, SC.

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager will also represent RAI, as needed, on field issues requiring investigation, resolution, and decisions related to product quality and conformance.
  • Primarily day shift, Monday-Friday
  • Some Saturdays may be required based on operational needs
  • Minimal travel between RAI facilities and project sites, typically without overnight stays
  • Relocation assistance is available


Job Summary

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees quality activities related to the fabrication of structural and miscellaneous metals. This position is responsible for ensuring inspections, fabrication processes, and finished products meet applicable AISC, AWS, project, customer, and contractual requirements.

This role will have primary responsibility for the management and continued development of RAI's AISC quality program, including maintaining compliance, preparing for certification audits, identifying opportunities for improvement, and partnering with operations to minimize non-conformance and improve overall product quality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on quality leader who can work effectively with shop management, welders, inspectors, detailers, and project teams while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing, implementing, or managing quality programs within a structural steel fabrication, metal fabrication, or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of AISC and AWS requirements as they relate to structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
  • Prior experience participating in or managing an AISC Fabricator Certification audit strongly preferred
  • Experience interpreting welding specifications, drawings, codes, and project requirements
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, inspection requirements, and fabrication quality standards
  • NDT Level I (UT) certification or the ability to obtain certification is highly desired
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop employees at various levels of the organization


Essential Functions
  • Manage and continuously improve RAI's AISC quality program and associated quality-management processes
  • Prepare for and support annual AISC certification audits, including maintaining required documentation, procedures, records, and corrective actions
  • Ensure structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication meets applicable AISC, AWS, customer, and project specifications
  • Inspect and/or oversee inspection of welds, welding consumables, base materials, cut and formed parts, layout work, coatings, and finished products
  • Review project welding specifications, drawings, and quality requirements and work with operations to resolve fabrication challenges
  • Ensure Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) are current, approved, and properly implemented for applicable projects
  • Identify, document, investigate, and resolve quality issues and non-conformances in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date inspection and quality records
  • Partner with shop management to develop and implement annual quality and technical training programs for new and experienced employees
  • Train and coach welders and shop personnel on welding quality, fabrication requirements, best practices, and applicable specifications
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication, engineering, detailing, project management, and field personnel to address quality concerns
  • Represent RAI, as needed, during field investigations involving product quality, conformance, or fabrication-related issues
  • Monitor quality performance and identify opportunities for process improvement and prevention of recurring non-conformances
  • Maintain strong internal and external customer satisfaction through consistent product quality and responsiveness
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of company and customer information and conduct business in an ethical and professional manner
  • Support the safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of projects while maintaining expected quality standards
