JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, along with the Quality Control team, is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of systems supporting quality, operational, and commercial initiatives. This includes document management, data integration, quality metrics, training, and internal assessments. The QA Manager will provide cross functional support to the business and will be the primary contact for system implementations and maintenance of POET's Quality Management System (QMS).

This is an on-site role located in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities include:
  • Own the management of the POET Quality Management System and Manual updates.
  • Coordinate Quality related system and document integration for POET, including Bioprocessing facilities.
  • Manage and troubleshoot situations relating to quality systems, training, and documentation across the POET network.
  • Evaluate training programs and standardize them around the POET network.
  • Own strategic execution of tools and systems to maintain documentation and records compliance requirements (21 CFR part 11, etc.)
  • Prioritize your schedule in order to engage in cross-functional activities to support the business.
  • Interface with IT on system optimization, access, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage quality-related information requests from all parts of the POET network.
  • Create and edit Quality policies that are robust, accessible, and current.
  • Standardize and maintain document templates.
  • Facilitate communication between departments within POET and POET Bioprocessing locations to maintain an effective teamwork environment.
  • Stay acquainted with quality-facing programs, processes, and environments within POET and potential 3rd party partners.
  • Develop and manage Quality Metrics and lead benchmarking efforts requiring Quality-based analytical data.
  • Support Deviation/CAPA resolution as needed.
  • Lead and coordinate bioprocessing Quality Unit onboarding and training.
  • Develop and provide technical presentations to management relating to Quality initiatives.
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET's products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in relevant field, sciences preferred.
  • 5 or more years of people, project, or program management experience.
  • 5 years' experience with Quality programs, certification structures, system and program deployments, and FDA regulated environments.
  • Experience in an operating plant environment such as grain processing, food processing, or chemical processing is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Some travel will be part of the norm for this position to visit the bioprocessing facilities, for meetings, and site visits. At times overnight travel may be required.
  • The work environment at POET is dynamic. You should expect a balance between time spent in the office and at the bioprocessing facility, which may include some physical labor helping your team members.
