Full Job Description
Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Quality Manager to lead our day-to-day quality program. This role works closely with production, engineering, and customers to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and ensure our products meet customer specifications. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading a team while remaining actively involved on the production floor and in the inspection process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department, including inspection priorities, employee guidance, and follow-up on quality issues.
  • Serve as the Quality Management System representative. Maintain the company-wide system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 requirements and oversee internal audits.
  • Work hands-on with inspectors and production employees to evaluate incoming materials, in-process work, and finished products before shipment.
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and quality requirements; establish product control plans and appropriate inspection methods.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with customers on quality matters. Respond promptly to questions, complaints, corrective action requests, and audit findings, and provide clear updates through resolution.
  • Lead investigations into nonconforming products and customer returns. Identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions, and verify their effectiveness.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including the Quality Manual, standard procedures, work instructions, inspection records, and customer-required submissions.
  • Apply FMEA, PPAP, statistical techniques, and continuous improvement methods to reduce defects and improve process performance.
  • Prepare quality metrics, internal audit results, and information about quality discrepancies for quarterly management review meetings.
  • Partner with production, engineering, and other departments to address quality concerns, support customer needs, and improve products and processes.
  • Train and coach employees on quality requirements, inspection practices, and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of quality assurance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in a job shop environment is required.
  • Experience managing a Quality Department in an ISO 9001 and AS9100 environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, PPAP, FMEA, root cause analysis, corrective action, and process improvement. Quality certification is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer blueprints and specifications proficiently.
  • Hands-on experience with dimensional inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, Sunnen gauges, and CMM equipment.
  • Ability to develop product control plans and inspection methods and use statistical techniques to evaluate processes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training or certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership, mathematics, computer, recordkeeping, and communication skills.
  • Experience communicating directly with customers and managing quality concerns through resolution.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to spend substantial time working directly with employees and processes on the production floor.
