The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Medicaid is seeking a Managed Care Organization (MCO) Data Analyst to join our team!

Terms of Employment
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
  • Work from the newly remodeled Lucas Building on the Capitol Complex
  • Telework may be an option upon successful completion of the six-month probationary period.
  • Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.


What You'll Do
  • Monitor and analyze managed care reporting to ensure compliance with state, federal, and contractual requirements.
  • Develop and publish public-facing dashboards showing Medicaid and MCO performance.
  • Review reports to identify trends, gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Enhance reporting processes and tools, to improve data quality, usability, and automation.
  • Work directly with Managed Care Plans and data teams to resolve issues and improve accuracy.
  • Support oversight activities by preparing reports, conducting special analyses, and providing technical assistance to contract managers.
  • Provide clear, actionable insights that support leadership, policy development and decision-making.
  • Translate complex data findings into understandable insights that guide program improvements and decision-making.

**Statistical Data Analysis
6 months' experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in statistical data analysis including: • Statistical research • Analysis or evaluation of statistical data • Clerical or technical work primarily limited to collecting, compiling, or assembling statistical data should not be counted toward this selective.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to three years of full-time work in project management; management analysis; data science; business systems analysis; or professional-level program administration, development, or operations.
  2. All of the following (a and b):
    1. Three years of full-time work experience in project management; management analysis; data science; business systems analysis; or professional-level program administration, development, or operations; and
    2. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. All of the following (a, b, and c):
    1. One year of full-time work experience in project management; management analysis; data science; business systems analysis; or professional-level program administration, development, or operations; and
    2. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and
    3. A total of two years of graduate-level education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in business administration, industrial management, statistics, natural science, or a closely-related field equals one year of full-time experience.
  4. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Management Analyst 2 or two and a half years as a Management Analyst 1.
