Full Job Description
The Quality Control Manager will implement and manage quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced composite materials and applications. The position supervises a team of QC Technicians.
Essential Functions
• Directs QC lab functions at assigned locations
• Follows and revises QC plans; reads and understands technical specifications
• Provides proper amount of QC personnel
• Maintains QC lab equipment
• Develops and approves mix designs to maximize quality and minimize cost
• Interprets customer requirements
• Develops and implements best practices
• Conducts internal process audits
• Develops and maintains current knowledge of advances in quality control field
• Works with estimating department and plant managers to determine aggregate sources
• Translates technical information to lay people at weekly scheduling meetings
• Facilitates collaboration among multiple workgroups (plant, lab, laydown, and field crews)
• Establishes effective relationships with aggregate supplier
• Meets INDOT deadlines
• Ensures training needs are met
• Conducts OJT with lab technicians and apprentices
• Presents materials to various groups/levels of company
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment
• Exhibits safe work behaviors and ensures all QC employees do the same
• Wears all prescribed PPE
• Evaluates, controls, and eliminates hazards from lab areas
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.
Education Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
Experience Qualifications
• 5+ years experience supervising individuals on a quality control team
• Experience in the heavy highway or construction industry preferred

Licenses and Certifications
• INDOT Quality Control Certification (must obtain after hire; if not currently held)
• Asphalt QC Certification (must obtain after hire; if not currently held)
• Valid drivers license
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
• Continuous exposure to aggregates, gravel, water, asphalt, concrete.
• Indoor lab conditions that include mechanical equipment, noise, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, aggregate/gravel pits, moving or stopped traffic at job sites.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50-75lbs regularly.
• Walks and stands for long periods of time.
• Bends, stoops, squats, reaches to move, mix and test materials.
• Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Uses good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
• Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day.
• Drives distances between labs, plants and job sites, as needed.
