Full Job Description
Job Title: QA/QC Manager
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00
Work Model: Onsite - onsite

Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of the company's ASME/Industrial QA/QC program at the Pittsburgh location.
  • Monitor weld procedures and ASME code requirements to verify compliance with company, customer, and code specifications.
  • Inspect welded sub-assemblies and assemblies at designated points during manufacturing for ASME hold points.
  • Maintain compliance with ASME weld procedures and train shop foremen and QC staff in measurements, documentation, and shop traveler generation.
  • Maintain all quality records for the company, including visual and mechanical inspection of products per drawings and code requirements.
  • Conduct onsite and offsite factory acceptance tests (FAT) according to customer QC documents.
  • Participate in tri-annual review of ASME stamp certifications.
  • Collaborate with drafting/design to review and correct fabrication drawings before release.
  • Prepare and maintain ASME QC records, respond to corrective actions, and handle non-conformances.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, vendors, and staff to review quality issues and insulate production from problems.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors, manage NDE services, and assist estimating with project evaluations.
  • Control QC manuals, procedures, and weld qualifications; certify welders; manage equipment calibration and inspection of received materials.
  • Perform weld and material tracking, witness testing activities, and verify inspections per code standards.
  • Create inspection sheets, check fit and layout, and develop final documentation packages.


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering or technical degree from a four-year college or university, or significant manufacturing/welding/metal fabrication experience.
  • CWI certification encouraged.
  • Minimum of 3+ years in quality systems, audits, and procedures; 5+ years in fabrication and manufacturing industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME and AWS codes.
  • Proficient in ASME inspection processes, including incoming inspection, material certification, in-process inspection, and code sections for hydrostatic testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and use measurement instruments.
  • Strong documentation skills, including generating ASME reports, shop travelers, and maintaining quality records.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-starter attitude, and ability to lead and collaborate across teams.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Physical ability to work at shop and construction sites, climb ladders, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in various weather conditions.
