  • Collaborate with distribution and sales teams to develop inventory metrics
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with vendors
  • Prepare reports on inventory value and usage
  • Ensure adherence to operating budget with P&L accountability
  • Coach and develop team members, conducting performance reviews
  • Participate in candidate selection and handling corrective actions

Shield HealthCare is looking for a Purchasing Manager for our Valencia, CA corporate officeThe purchasing manager manages the company's day-to-day purchasing activities and ensures that all buyers are meeting their personal performance standards with an emphasis on developing, leading and executing purchasing strategies. Plans and analyzes activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of product.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs supply chain and logistics functions such as product procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing and vendor selection.
  • Evaluate inventory levels to be maintained for all distribution centers with constant generation of ideas to improve inventory turns on purchased goods.
  • Monitors and forecasts upcoming levels of demand.
  • Manages inventory to minimize back orders and maintain company cash flow.
  • Evaluates product reimbursement by payor type to recommend preferred products to maximize profit.
  • Establish profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to offset losses.
  • Collaborate with distribution and sales teams to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year.
  • Resolve vendor conflicts regarding product availability, deliveries and unsatisfactory service.
  • Negotiate with vendors on pricing and delivery.
  • Interacts with other company stakeholders to assist with product conversions.
  • Prepares reports on inventory value, product usage, and rebate accruals.
  • Adherence to operating budget with full P&L accountability.
  • May be required to complete purchasing agent activities.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops team.
  • Conducts performance reviews.
  • Handles corrective action and accountability.
  • Participates in interviews and the selection of candidates.
  • Supports team engagement and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years purchasing team management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field
  • CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, or CPP certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management required
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proven history of developing effective inventory management policies
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses
  • Proficiency in Excel and Epicor software experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
