Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities to support manufacturing operations, ensuring materials, components, and services are obtained at the best value while meeting quality, delivery, and compliance requirements. This role develops supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, manages inventory strategies, and works cross-functionally with engineering, production, and finance to support operational goals.

Requirements

Essential Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules, inventory targets, and cost objectives
  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers for raw materials, fabricated components, and services
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements to achieve cost savings and reliability
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness; address corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on new product introductions, material changes, and supplier selection
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete stock
  • Track market conditions, material availability, and pricing trends to support forecasting and risk mitigation
  • Ensure procurement activities meet internal controls, audit requirements, and ethical sourcing standards
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate purchasing or procurement staff (if applicable)
  • Generate and analyze purchasing metrics, cost reports, and supplier data to support leadership decision-making

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related field
• Minimum 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiation skills with proven experience managing suppliers and contracts
• Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principles
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience in manufacturing or engineered-to-order environments
• Knowledge of metal, fabrication, or industrial equipment procurement
• Supervisory or team leadership experience

$105,000.00-$145,000.00
