Description

Purchasing & Asset Manager

Location: El Dorado Hills, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 annually

Roebbelen Contracting is looking for a Purchasing & Asset Manager to take ownership of how we purchase, manage, track, and plan for the tools, equipment, fleet, and operational assets that support our teams in the field.

This isn't just a purchasing role, and it isn't just about tracking equipment. We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture. Someone who understands the operational side of construction, builds strong vendor relationships, thinks strategically about cost and utilization, and can create practical systems that work in the real world.

You'll have the opportunity to shape and improve our company-wide approach to purchasing and asset management while partnering closely with Operations, project teams, our Corporate Yard, Safety, Accounting, Risk Management, and external partners.

What You'll Own
  • Purchasing & vendor partnerships: Lead purchasing for tools, equipment, fleet assets, rentals, and operational supplies while developing strong vendor relationships and negotiating pricing, programs, warranties, and service agreements.
  • Tools & equipment: Help us better understand what we own, where it is, how it's being used, and when it makes sense to repair, replace, or redeploy it.
  • Asset accountability: Lead our company-wide asset accountability program and help maximize tools like Hilti ON!Track to improve visibility and ownership across our jobsites.
  • Fleet management: Coordinate vehicle acquisition, outfitting, maintenance programs, transfers, recalls, warranties, replacement planning, and disposal.
  • Inventory strategy: Partner with our Corporate Yard Manager to establish inventory controls, stocking standards, and replenishment strategies that support the field without creating unnecessary excess.
  • Cost & lifecycle planning: Look beyond the initial purchase price to evaluate utilization, maintenance costs, downtime, lifecycle cost, and ROI.
  • Systems & process improvement: Build scalable processes, reporting, and tools that make purchasing and asset management more efficient as Roebbelen continues to grow.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines business sense with operational understanding and is comfortable working across both field and office teams.

You'll likely bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, fleet, equipment, asset management, construction operations, or a related field.
  • Experience working with vendors and negotiating pricing, terms, or service agreements.
  • Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, fleet assets, and the realities of supporting field operations.
  • Strong financial judgment and the ability to think about cost, utilization, lifecycle, and ROI.
  • Experience using asset, fleet, inventory, purchasing, ERP, or similar systems.
  • The ability to take an existing process, figure out what's working and what isn't, and build something better.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships and influence across teams.

Even better if you have:
  • Experience with a general contractor, specialty contractor, self-perform operation, or construction-related organization.
  • Hilti ON!Track or similar asset-management experience.
  • Fleet management or telematics experience.
  • Experience building or improving purchasing, asset-management, or accountability programs.
  • A degree in Business, Supply Chain, Construction Management, Operations Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience is absolutely welcome.

Why Roebbelen?

This is an opportunity to build, not just maintain.

You'll have visibility across the organization and the ability to make a real impact on how we purchase, manage, and utilize the assets that support our projects. You'll work directly with the people using these resources every day and help create smarter systems that improve accountability, control costs, and make life easier for our field teams.

If you enjoy solving operational problems, building relationships, and creating processes that actually work outside of a spreadsheet, we'd love to hear from you.
