Purchasing and Procurement Manager

Description

Reliable Safety and Flow Corporation is looking for a Purchasing and Procurement Manager based out of our North Kingstown, RI facility. The Purchasing and Procurement Manager is responsible for the execution of the material requirements plan and for the purchase of products in accordance with established company policies and procedures. This individual will also be responsible for the timely delivery of product as required in support of the production plan and establishing and maintaining good company/vendor relationships.

How You Will Help
  • Plans all purchased material requirements predicated on sales forecasts, customer orders and predetermined acceptable inventory levels.
  • Purchases products in accordance with established company policies and procedures including seeking bids, screening potential vendors, submitting specifications to ensure lowest possible price and highest quality.
  • Prepares orders to vendors as needed for raw materials, packaging materials, components, services, supplies, finished goods and related material needed for production.
  • Interacts daily with suppliers, sub-contracted partners and transportation to meet delivery promise and be a major contributor to superior internal and external customer service.
  • Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, supply chain and others, as appropriate, to ensure timely procurement, scheduling and movement of materials and services.
  • Ensures the timely delivery of product as required to support the current production plan; arranges delivery and mode of transportation in accordance with schedule requirements.
  • Works with Customs broker and company legal assistant on international imports to ensure proper classification of materials and with vendors to ensure proper markings.
  • Assists in the resolution of rejected material, in-house and vendor supplied, as well as clearing receipts through incoming inspection.
  • Advises management of all price increases and reductions; manages all vendor price negotiations as required.
  • Maintains professional working relationship with suppliers; establishes and maintains good company/vendor/subcontractor relationships and encourages new methods of production to foster cost reductions and ensure that relationship creates a no conflict-of-interest situation.
  • Leads supply stream cost reduction efforts to achieve "best in class" supply costs; leads efforts with suppliers, engineering, marketing, operations and facilities to identify and realize material cost reductions and value-improvement opportunities for both new product initiatives (NPI) and legacy designs (direct production material/raw goods).
  • Actively participates in negotiation of Long Term Agreements with prospective suppliers to achieve year-over-year cost savings and build alliances with strategic suppliers.
  • Works in conjunction with QA Department on supplier audits, scorecards and other key performance indicators (KPI's).
  • Pro-actively investigates and resolves vendor problems and complaints; secures RMA's, credits, replacement material, issues non-conformances and requests for corrective action as required.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by Supervisor.


What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics & Materials, Supply Chain or Operations & Supply Management or equivalent combination of education and experience; CSCP/CPIM certification a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Buyer/Planner, coordinating purchases and deliveries with local and foreign vendors, establishing alternate supply sources, negotiating price, quality and delivery terms, determining manufacturing requirements and maintaining inventory levels.
  • Experience with MRP, JIT and lean manufacturing practices a must; experience with Lawson M3 a plus.
  • Experience working directly with foreign suppliers, freight forwarders, import brokers and corporate compliance officers to import various materials while complying with US Customs regulations.
  • Exceptional Project Management and Organizational Skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
