SummaryThe Major Equipment Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring high-value, long-lead equipment for Enerflex Engineered Systems projects. These activities include: obtaining quotes, negotiating and placing orders, tracking and expediting orders, monitoring Enerflex and vendor inventories, identifying and resolving delivery issues, and resolving quality issues with major equipment suppliers.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties- Execute procurement of high-value, long-lead major equipment to meet project requirements
- Identify opportunities to bundle orders to leverage volumes
- Expedite vendors, obtain detailed operations schedules, critical path items and set vendor priorities
- Coordinate major equipment quoting activity with Applications Engineers, Project Managers, Project Engineers and Project Designers; provide guidance on alternatives to meet project requirements
- Monitor major equipment supplier performance: quoting accuracy, lead times, delivery, quality, cost
- Maintain and develop cross-functional supplier relationships (sales, quality, engineering, project management)
- Negotiate for best possible cost/service guarantee and develop "win-win" strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
- Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning; anticipate shifts in supplier negotiation leverage
- Implement supplier agreements/contracts (when beneficial) by working with cross-functional stakeholders to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
- Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to identify supply base issues (material prices, availability, lead times, quality) to minimize risk and obsolescence, assure continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities
- Ensure compliance with EFX purchasing policies and major equipment supply agreements
- Continuously improve productivity and efficiency of processes throughout the major equipment supply chain (EFX and its suppliers)
- Analyze major equipment spend to identify trends, cost drivers and opportunities for cost savings, value-add improvements, or supplier optimization
- Monitor, analyze and recommend disposition/usage of excess, slow-moving and obsolete inventories
Qualifications- Demonstrated proficiency with SAP ERP System Material Management Module transactions - specifically: issuing, changing, and monitoring Purchase Orders
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) applications, with advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to review and interpret commercial terms and conditions, and work with stakeholders to ensure supply agreements and contracts reflect Enerflex's commercial and risk requirements
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Previous international sourcing experience
Desired Education and Formal Training:
- Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience
Desired Experience:
- At least five (5) years purchasing/strategic sourcing experience along with 3+ year's relevant operations/supply chain experience, OR
- Three plus (3+) years' major equipment purchasing experience in oil & gas or power generation sectors
