Description

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at NYU Langone Health is seeking a highly motivated, career-oriented Attending Physician to join our expanding outpatient program in our Manhattan outpatient practice. This position is designed for an academic clinician with dedicated expertise in the clinical management of airway diseases (COPD, Asthma).

The ideal candidate will balance a robust, continuity-based outpatient practice with an active clinical research portfolio. A central focus of this role is the active expansion of our clinical trials footprint across NYULH and Bellevue Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Excellence: Provide comprehensive, high-quality outpatient care to patients with complex pulmonary conditions, with a specialized focus on advanced COPD and severe Asthma management.


  • Clinical Trial Leadership & Execution: Serve as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator on industry-sponsored, federally funded, and investigator-initiated clinical trials in Airways diseases. Oversee trial design, protocol adherence, and data integrity.


  • Proactive Patient Recruitment: Develop, implement, and optimize aggressive patient recruitment and retention strategies. Utilize electronic health records, clinical networks, and community outreach to meet or exceed enrollment targets.


  • Regulatory Oversight: Navigate IRB submissions, protocol amendments, and safety reporting, ensuring strict compliance with FDA, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and institutional guidelines.


  • Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Foster synergies and joint research initiatives across the institution, including building collaborative bridges with the Department of Environmental Medicine and other foundational research divisions.


  • Education & Mentorship: Teach and mentor pulmonary/critical care fellows, and engage with NYU Langone Health residents and medical students, particularly in clinical trial methodologies and clinical research workflows.


Required & Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated success in patient recruitment and enrollment targets for clinical trials within an academic or large health system setting.


  • Deep familiarity with clinical trial operations, including IRB processes, regulatory documentation, and monitoring visits.


  • A proven track record of clinical research productivity, including prior grant funding (e.g., K-series, R-series, or foundation awards) or significant industry-sponsored trial experience in COPD/Asthma.


  • Demonstrated commitment to long-term practice building and academic program development.
