WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Public Health Advisor (Quarantine Program), you will:

• Port Program Management: Serve as a recognized authority for and represents the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ) programs and activities at ports of entry and transit in the servicing jurisdiction.
• Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering difficulty and requirements of assignments as well as the capabilities of employees.
• Community Program Management: Serve as a recognized authority for and represents the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ) programs and activities in communities, beyond ports of entry and transit, of the servicing jurisdiction.
• Provides advice and assistance to community partners

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications:

• Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities.
• Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings.
• Knowledge of a specialized public health program.
• Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions.
• Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials.

AND

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at ALL of the following:

• Providing guidance and direction to port partners in quarantine principles, bioterrorism preparedness, and other public health activities related to control and prevention of communicable diseases resulting from the transportation of people, goods, and animals.
• Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work, when necessary.
• Serving as a recognized authority for and representing programs and activities in communities.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
