Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Behavioral Health Professional to join the Aftercare Research Program. The Aftercare Research Program is an outpatient research clinic that provides assessment and treatment and conducts research with people who have recently experienced an initial psychotic episode. Primary duties include:

  • Providing cognitive behavioral, supportive, individual, and group interventions
  • Planning, developing, and implementing treatment and psychoeducational groups for patients and family members
  • Scheduling and monitoring patient appointments for research and clinical activities
  • Administer clinical research measures of patient symptomatology and functioning
  • Assisting in clinically supervising psychology interns and practicum students through clinical group supervision
  • Assisting patients with job/school application processes
  • Interviewing patient and family members to determine eligibility for program
  • Evaluating diagnostic criteria to determine patient's diagnosis

Salary range: $50.21- $77.07/hr

  • Ability to utilize measures such as Brief Psychiatric Rating Scales, Schedule for the Assessment Negative Symptoms, Schedule for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms, and Global Functioning Scale
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and ability to implement
  • Experience with group and individual supportive, cognitive behavioral and other therapies applicable to patients with severe mental disorders
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Skill in making presentations to peers, professional groups, agencies, etc.
  • Skill in helping to write manuscripts to be submitted for publication
  • Skill in scheduling and monitoring patient appointments
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule to meet department and patient needs
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships in interdisciplinary team
