University of Colorado AnschutzDepartment: PsychiatryJob Title: Senior Instructor of Clinical PracticeWorking Title: Psychiatrist - PuebloJob Summary:The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) is a 516-bed acute care psychiatric hospital that provides inpatient behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and geriatric patients. CMHHIP is a forensic hospital that serves individuals with pending criminal charges who require evaluations of competency, individuals who have been found to be incompetent to proceed (restoration treatment) and individuals found to be not guilty by reason of insanity by Colorado's criminal courts.
CMHHIP is located in southern Colorado on a 300-acre campus. This position will be required to be in person in Pueblo, CO and is not located on Anschutz Medical Campus.
This position is considered full-time (1.0 FTE).
Key Responsibilities:
This position provides needed treatment to patients.
Examples of Work Performed:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Work with integrated care teams that include mental and physical health professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to provide seamless continuum of care.
- Collaborate with other members of the team and evaluate their diagnosis and treatment protocols upon request to ensure the best in patient care.
- Provide consultation to integrated care team members to help diagnosis, assess and treat complex behavioral health conditions in an inpatient facility.
- Provide input in the creation of individual patient treatment plans that incorporate multiple treatment methodologies and adjust as needed for enhanced patient response.
- Diagnose mental health conditions based on patient health history, discussions with the patient and information provided from relatives and other health professionals.
- Assess patients and prescribe pharmaceutical interventions, as appropriate, on an ongoing basis for treatment of behavioral, emotional, or mental disorders.
- Recommend diagnostic and laboratory tests on patients to learn additional information about their physical and/or mental health, as well as their improvement over time.
- Discuss treatment protocols and diagnoses with patient caregivers and advise as appropriate.
Work Location:Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and in person at the CMHHIP, in Pueblo, CO.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- MD/DO
- CO Physician License or eligible for a CO Physician License
- Board Certified in Psychiatry

Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working with Forensic populations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Demonstrated ability to work with patients, faculty, staff and students coming from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Knowledge, experience, and ability to manage complex information and computer systems.
