Job Opportunity: Psychiatrist
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Start Date: Immediate
Schedule: Full-Time (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with on-call rotation)

What You'll Do

Inpatient Care
  • Collaborate with VA Mental Health staff on inpatient care duties, including:
    • Operating and collaborating on physician patient caseloads
    • Seeing 1C/1D Psychiatry Service ward patients
    • Admitting and diagnosing patients
    • Developing individualized treatment plans
    • Managing and performing timely treatment
    • Coordinating discharge and transfer
    • Completing all required medical record documentation
Outpatient Care
  • See all new patient referrals with accompanying medical records
  • Provide care for severely mentally ill patients
  • Perform evaluation, disposition, and E-consult services
  • Conduct post-discharge follow-up; patients must be seen within 30 days of discharge
Clinic and Residential Care
  • Operate the clinic, examine patients, and interpret reports as required by the VA
  • Work collaboratively with VA staff across various clinic settings
Peer Review
  • Provide professional psychiatric expertise for peer review of selected cases
  • Review includes tort claims, patient and family complaints, Mental Health case reviews, and benefit appeals

Qualifications

Licensure
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • No history of restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily surrendered, or denied licensure in any jurisdiction
Board Certification
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent
Technical Proficiency
  • Demonstrated proficiency in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, including the full scope of services listed above
