Full Job Description
Duties Description Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center (MVPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their outpatient teams. Outpatient clinics and programs are located in Rome, NY, Herkimer, NY, and Utica, NY.

As a Psychiatrist at MVPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient centered, and recovery focused treatments to individuals with mental illness 18 year of age or older; including:
• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
• Creating treatment plans including medication management
• Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed
• Providing individual and group psychotherapy

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and have certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

*Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.

Transfer Opportunity - Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth) to be eligible for lateral transfer.
